Awards
CAMA is no different than most other organizations in that it likes to reward and recognize its members. During its annual meeting, CAMA usually bestows one major award. This is called the Forrest Bird Award and is given based on the following criteria:
Forrest Bird Award
Aircrew Member who, through personal skills and judgment, has averted or limited potential injury to others, before, during or after his or her flight duties.
Conceptual Aeromedical Technologist who has been personally responsible for a concept or concepts, that have served to directly advance the welfare of Aircrew Members and /or their passengers.
Legislator who has been instrumental in protecting Civil Aviation Activities, from burdensome Political Regulatory Encroachment, which clearly serves to maintain Individual Airman Freedoms.
Physician who has distinguished himself or herself by the Mass Educational Expansion of the Mandated Flight Physical, into a periodic overall examining procedure, serving as a means for the early detection of disease: with potentially life limiting or fatal consequences, in both men and women.
Aircraft Passenger who has Meritoriously Served his or her Fellow Man, during or following an In-flight Emergency.
Final selection will be made by the CAMA Directors.
Presidents Award
This award recipient is chosen by the President as someone who has helped the President, provided exemplary service to CAMA, and embodies the whole field of civil aerospace medicine.
Tamisiea Award
CAMA also proudly sponsors an annual award given by the Aerospace Medical Association. This award is given to an aviation medical examiner or other individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the art and science of aviation medicine in its application to the general aviation field.
